Yateley May Fayre Monday 7th May 2018
Another great day of fun and festivities for the whole family!

Yateley Green was home to the May Fayre on Monday 7th May 2018 and everyone was invited to come and join the fun.

The May Fayre Car Boot Sale provided the normal bustling start to activities at 7.30 on Mayday morning.  Come early to find a bargain and experience the lively feeling of early morning on the Green.

The main Fayre started at 10.30, with the Mayor of Yateley providing a welcome to what turned out to be an exciting day of activities.

The Fayre had a wide range of stalls surrounding a central arena.  The stalls include:

  • Crafts, plants and baked treats and many other items for sale
  • Tombolas and games, including the ever-popular Crockery Smash
  • Fairground rides for kids
  • Local charities showcasing their work
  • Various food and drink stands so you can fill and refresh yourself during the day

The Vehicle Show
where local enthusiasts show off their classic and other beautiful cars . .

The arena events are the normal centre of attraction during the day with performances from;

Vander Brothers Wheel of Death

Presenting the Vander Space Wheel of Death, an 11 metre structure which rotates on a central axis with a cage at the end of each axial. A unique and highly prestigious act having made its debut at the Glastonbury Festival. The Vander Brothers enter the cages and commence to rotate the wheel at ever increasing speed, walking then running on the inside, then on the outside of the cages. A highly dangerous and spectacular act – one which will leave the crowd with their hearts in their mouths throughout, especially when the artistes walk blindfold on the outside of the wheel. The only one of its kind in the world

Clown Bluey Crazy Fire Engine Show

Clown Bluey’s Clown Car is a Fire Engine! With Flossie Clown playing Flossie Fleabag, hairy Fire Dog 3rd Class (Ruff Crufts), together with audience volunteers, Chief Fire Officer Bluey demonstrates the latest fire-fighting techniques, using the BIGGEST Fire Engine in the world, his two metre (6’6?) half-sized 1930's Model T Ford Fire Engine, “FIRE 1“! Children and Adults love this Outside Clown Arena Act where Flossie Fleabag outwits Fire Chief Clown Bluey at every turn. Flossie Fleabag barges in determined to be a firefighter and, of course, helps to mess everything up and in the process the arrogant Chief Fire Officer Bluey gets extremely wet!

Sandhurst & District Corps of Drums

The boys and girls of the Sandhurst & District Corps of Drums have been performing since 2005, in their distinctive and colourful uniform, based on the Royal Marines Band including a White Pith Helmet.
During their marching display, the band performed all the old favourites such as The Great Escape, Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines, Yankee Doodle, Dambusters and many more tunes.

In between these main acts, local troupes of dancers entertained you with their beauty skill and grace.

The arena events finished with the ever popular Open Fun Dog Show where a large collection of pampered pooches compete to win classes such as dog with the waggiest tail, the best behaved, most like their owner, most laid back, the most appealing face and the loudest bark.

As usual, Eagle Radio provided background music, announcements and commentaries throughout the day.

Yateley & District Lions hoped you had a great day, enjoyed the fun and supported all the attractions of the May Fayre.
