Yateley May Fayre Monday 1st May 2017
Yateley Lions are planning another great day for all the family!
Yateley May Fayre 2017 is in the advanced planning stages and will be a similar format to previous years. The event will take place on the Green on Monday May 1st .

The community event will get off to its normal bustling start at 8.00am on Mayday morning with the Car Boot Sale opening, with many people hunting out the early bargains and giving that lively feeling to early morning on the green.

Yateley’s Mayor will officially open the event at 10.30, welcoming the people of Yateley and surrounding areas to May Fayre.

There will be plenty of stalls selling all sorts of items, rides for the children and the normal food stations for you to fill up during the day. New for this year will be a Vehicle Show.

The arena events will be the normal centre of attraction during the day with several performances from;

The Rockwood Dog Display Team

The Rockwood Dog Display Team provides Great family entertainment. The display takes the audience through every aspect of dog training from obedience performed to music, dogs jumping through fire hoops, agility, fly ball and active Man Work where a dog is seen to apprehend an armed criminal.

Portsmouth Volunteer Cadet Corps Field Gun Display

The Volunteer Cadet Corps Field Gun Competition is an exciting display involving boys and girls from the Portsmouth naval bases of HMS Sultan, HMS Collingwood and HMS Excellent (Royal Marines). The equipment that the cadets use is the original 7lb muzzle loading field guns used in the late nineteenth century at the Battle of Ladysmith. The display includes a demonstration run and a fast timed competition run which represents an attack on simulated enemy. There are up to three teams available, each with a complement of up to nineteen cadets. This is a competitive, tough, thrilling display involving discipline and teamwork. Two or three teams give a good and competitive display.

Sandhurst & District Corps of Drums
band

The Sandhurst & District Corps of Drums was formed in 2005.The band caters for the 10-18 years of age and welcomes both boys and girls. Their uniform is based on the Royal Marines Band uniform including a White Pith Helmet.
The band will be performing many favourite tunes such as The Great Escape, Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines, Yankee Doodle, When Johnny Comes Marching Home, Wipeout, GoodBye Dolly, Congratulations and Dambusters whilst carrying out a marching display.

In addition local dance acts will be performing in the arena.

The arena events finish with the ever popular Open Fun Dog Show where a large collection of pampered pooches set out to win classes such as dog with the waggiest tail, the best behaved, most like their owner, most laid back, the most appealing face and the loudest bark.

Eagle Radio will our excellent Mc’s for the day and suppy background music, announcements and commentaries.

Parking will be available on the Firgrove Road side of the green; a donation to park will be much appreciated.

Yateley & District Lions hope you will enjoy the fun and support all the attractions on The Green and have a great day.
