Yateley Sustainability Fair

On Saturday 27th September Yateley Lions joined other local groups at the Sustainability Fair on Church End Green. We displayed some of our environmentally friendly projects including:-

• recycling of spectacles & hearing aids – used items are collected and delivered to our site in Chichester were they are sorted and then, if suitable for reuse, sent to Medico in France or recycled for to raise funds for sight related projects.
• IT Project – we collect unwanted laptops, fully clean & refurbish and then donate to local families in need and charitable organisations. Over 2,500 units have been donated to date
• Lions Community Store – unwanted furniture and household items are collected and redistributed to local families in need

We also had information available on Lions Club membership and the Message in a Bottle scheme. A number of interested local residents visited us during the day and Charlotte Low, a young lady who we have helped with physiotherapy costs, and her family paid a visit to say thank you.
